What a wonderfully creepy and bizarre story, aimed at kids but appreciable by adults too. A hybrid graphic novel told in a mixture of a series of diary entries by an orphan bullied by her peers, and terrific black and white artwork. The…

I think Thornhill read a little young for me. The Illustrations are wonderfully dark, and creepy in its own right, and I think its the perfect horror graphic novel for younger readers.

Not for the shrinking violet, but this is a nice creepy story for the tween who seeks out chills and thrills. The lovely atmospheric illustrations occasionally meet and diverge from the story, and contribute to a twist I didn't see coming,…

Excellent story from two girl's point of view. Advise caution for those with depression and/or anxiety, definitely has triggers if the reader is being or has been bullied like myself. There are dark parts in the story telling, but well…

Thornhill is an amazing book. It's a tale filled with horror and mystery and kept me up until I finished reading. Definitely recommend this book.

As creepy as the look of the book would lead you to believe, and with an author who's not afraid to pursue the ending she's looking for, even if it is for kids. What at first seems fun and simple- a graphic novel present and the past…

A young girl, a diary, and a creepy or orphanage will give you chills with this illustrated ghost story. --Taylor (for more of Taylor's suggestions, follow WoodneathTaylor in the catalog.)

This particular item is one of my favorites for new reads - especially if you're looking for something scary but aren't quite ready for something like Coraline. The half-graphic, half-journal entry format makes it easy to complete and…

This is something completely different than what I usually read, this was a good read, and I would definitely recommend this to my friends. This book has a lot of picture pages and I was not used to that. I didn't like that it didn't have…

FIVE STARS!!!!!! I loved this book! I think that the illustration were amazing and I felt like I was reading a real diary and that I could feel Mary's emotion in every word. It's was definitely a page turning book and I hope that Pam…

I definitely would put this on the same scary-caliber shelf as Neil Gaiman's "Coraline" - this story has a seemingly innocent "eerie" vibe that will appeal to a lot of younger audiences. However, if you read between the lines and really…

I loved this teen graphic novel about two girls both trying to fit in and not succeeding. As another reviewer said the art work fits so well with Ella's story. Mary's written diary shows a young woman in need of love and understanding but…

Thornhill is listed as a recommended book for children which is inappropriate. It is 533 pages and clearly a book for teens.

Two lonely lives reach across time and space to form a bond, bringing comfort and friendship to two forgotten teens. Tormented and alone Mary finally reaches a point of no return. Life among her incredible creations is no longer enough. …

An attractively dark package containing an alternating, linked pair of haunting stories, one text without pictures and one illustrations without words. Atmospheric and creepy.

Great story and illustrations. It’s a quick read but worth it.

I loved the mix of part novel plus part graphic novel because it really upped the creep factor. Awesome illustrations! I blew through reading this in one evening.

Thornhill is easily the creepiest middle grade book I've read. Hands down. It's a book that is spooky, unnerving, and heartbreaking. It's a story from two perspectives, Mary Baines who is writing a diary in 1982 while living in Thornhill…

Absolutely stunning story. I love how the pictures had as much to do with the story as the journal entries. It was a very dark and sad story but superb. I highly recommend.

When Ella moves in to a new neighborhood, she thinks she sees lights and a girl's shadow in the upstairs room of the abandoned orphanage next door.

This graphic novel is a fun, spooky read with fantastic illustrations. I read it in one sitting (with all the lights on and with a cozy mug of tea, of course).
