This star-studded cast and the scenery caught the imagination and admiration of many who have viewed this gem of a movie. I had not seen this film in a long time. It was great to see it again both for the story, the excellent casting, and how this beautiful film was photographed (stunning locations). Highly recommend. A film and story that stay with you. Kudos to Robert Redford for bringing it to the silver screen.

I am a fan of Robert Redford movie. and this is another beautiful movie with great acting, with emotions, sensitivity and special care for animal . Highly recommended.

This movie is not for kids--it is certainly not for a horse-crazy tween, like the focal character. In the very first chapter of the movie, she is in a very horrific and graphic accident that leaves her with a leg amputation, her horse with grisly injuries--and her best friend dead. My horse-crazy tween was full-out bawling. We hung on, hoping for redemption, but never got it. The girl does eventually get back on her horse, but in the meantime her mom considers leaving her dad for the horse trainer! My horse-crazy tween found this plot twist icky, and unbelievable. Plus the movie is just very, very looooong. I regret watching it.

A+ in artistry, especially in camera use. Beautiful story in human and animal (horse) emotion, displaying hard choices after a tragedy. The acting horse should receive an oscar.

Checked this DVD out on wife's request. I was skeptical, and apprehensive about the length. However was bowled over by the depth of emotion portrayed in understated fashion. I did not know Scarlett Johansson was a child actress - what a performance!

Waaaayyyyy toooooo looong.

This wannabee-movie was a career killer for Redford. I would rather take a bath in someone's-else vomit than watch this kind of garbage.
