Baseball legend Ty Cobb asks sportswriter Al Stump to write his biography. Cobb lives down his reputation as an extremely difficult person. While driving across country to a banquet at the Baseball Hall of Fame, Cobb tells Stump about his life but his gun wielding, drinking and drug use get them into many scrapes along the way. Stump writes both the version Cobb dictates to him and the version he himself sees, but he only publishes Cobb's version.

Rubbish. Slander.
Forget this movie until you first read: "Ty Cobb: A Terrible Beauty" by Charles Leehrsen (2015).
Leehrsen, finally, did the actual research on Cobb and exposes baseball "experts" for the lazy parrots they have been since prior to Stump's first Cobb fiction of 1961 (published post Cobb's death and without Cobb's own edits), thru Stump's Cobb forgeries being discovered about 2010 by William Cobb, then Leehrsen's research and book.
1/2 a star as there are none lower that would be credited.

It was O.K for a home TV movie. I was entertained and interesting. But it was NOT worth the long library wait or the price to rent from a Red Box. "I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.”
