Honestly brutal. Raw. Tragic. Deeply disturbing. An art movie viewed as a wake up call to the world and US hook up culture. A-must-see movie!!
When this movie came out I was their age and def not thinking of having sex. Fortunately I came from a culture/country that was not hook up culture and was way different. In my circles and in my school girls started being sexually active in their late 20s. Yep! No regrets. Maybe for that reason I did not get and understand why they were having sex when they were only and just kids.
What are we teaching and giving to our kids? Note: Telly's mother smoking while breastfeeding her baby.
Glad after so many years I got my hands on this title thru our king county library (I continue appreciate US free library system!). If I was a parent this would be what I forced my kids to watch till the very end.
It is my understanding that some schools show this movie to the kids, yet that's not enough - every school should have it in its curriculum.

One of the greatest films of all time. Not for the squeamish! Raw language and behavior from start to finish. KIDS is the opposite of a Hollywood movie. Hollywood movies are fantasy and escapism. KIDS is real. Probably too real for rich conservative Cupertino. The artsy edgy cinematography is just as raw and exciting as the profanity and sex fueled scenes of New York City teens run amuck in the mid 1990’s. However, parents needn’t worry, for KIDS is really a morality tale in disguise, and the moral of the story is, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN PARENTS DON’T PARENT!!! I can’t praise KIDS enough. It is a cinema masterpiece!

I loved this movie when i watched it. It's been a while since I've seen it, but i have a feeling it is still a powerful movie. Graphic but entertaining.
