VERY GOOD 1957 biographical film of roaring 20's star Helen Morgan (played by Ann Blyth in her last film role). Paul Newman does excellent acting job as bad boy Larry Maddux.
Helen Morgan, in many ways, was an early Judy Garland - both had lifestyle problems coming from their show business careers.
All the signature Morgan songs are actually sang by Gogi Grant.
I wasn't previously aware of Helen Morgan's status as one of the premier 20's singers; this film was an excellent introduction.
