A great comeback for 24 from the rather awful aftertaste of seasons 5 and 6.

Season 7 should be seen after first watching the movie "24: Redemption", which leads into the series (though it is NOT part of the 24 hour timeline, it is actually a standalone movie... which makes it interesting since it breaks the mold).

Season 7 brought a new environment (FBI) to the table, which brings with it a whole new character set... the whole premise of the FBI "being the law" and respecting the rights of their prisoners. It was the writers' intention to respond to criticisms of 24 that the show was promoting the use of torture. Though 24 doesn't abandon it's rough-em-tough-em ways, and Jack is still well, Jack.

The start of this season is strong and addictive. Fairly strong cast and many memorable characters. Hard to imagine the movie was filmed AFTER this series was made, because it ties so well with the first half of the series.

I have to say though that once we get past the Sangalan arc of this season, things slow down for me. I didn't find the last half as enjoyable, despite the heavy-weight acting of the amazing Jon Voight and of course all the Tony time. It just seemed to become stereotypical again after the African storyline... though still enjoyable til the end.
