What will the world be like when mankind is extinct? The pyramids may stand forever, but the cities will disappear. Our greatest masterpieces will fade and crumble. As global warming and the depletion of natural resources become ever more pressing issues it is critical to consider how we can reduce our impact on the planet. Journey to locations around the globe already going through the processes of a lack of human intervention. See the changes wrought in just decades in ghostly settlements like Chernobyl, which was abandoned since only 1986, and island towns off the coast of Maine. How long would it take before the last remnants of mankind completely disappeared?

Originally produced for a "History Channel" TV program in 2008, this 94-minute documentary takes you on an amazing, shocking and fascianting visial journey in the world without humans.
The film presents a thought-provoking and inspiring adventure that combines superb visual effects with insights from experts in the fields of engineering, botany, ecology, geology, climatology, archaeology and astrophysics to demonstrate how the landscape of our planet will change in our absence.
If you're interested in the World War III and climate change, this is a must-see.

I really enjoyed this documentary. It was amazing to see how quickly the
world would bounce back without humans. The section on the ocean was especially fascinating!

This documentary starts with the unexplained premise that humans have instantaneously vanished from Earth; and then explores what would happen to what remains. Are humans likely to vanish? The "additional scenes" on this DVD offer several brief scenarios on how it might happen. I think the chances of a complete human extinction are very, very small. The interesting prospect of the evolution of a hominid-like creature to supersede us is considered briefly.

The BBC version of this type of documentary was much better. The narration on this one left a bit to be desired.
The dvd is Interesting enough to spark the mind, but not enough to stick for any length of time.

this film totally rocked. It was scientific and interesting, and I would watch it over and over again!
