Like his other books in this series, this one seems to be a bit forced. Reads like it was translated from German by Google. Horrific in one sense, but trying too hard to foreshadow what was to come - Nazis, concentration camps, etc. Almost feels like setting this story in 1930's Berlin provides an excuse to be as "Saw" or "Hostel" graphic as possible.
I enjoy books set in this period, but this particular detective novel was very dark - I had to take a break during reading it.
disgusting subject, not a mystery.
