For young adults: In this memoir, Gaby Rodriguez recounts how she faked a pregnancy while in high school. This narrative digs into the stereotypes and stigmas felt by teenage girls regardless of whether they are pregnant.

Add a CommentOmg, amazing book, the fact that this is a true story really amazed me because of how brave Gaby must have been. Everything she talked about made so much sense, and was really important to get across to her community. This story is inspiring and honestly one of the most courageous things I've ever heard of!
Written in a conversational tone, this is the story of a high school junior who faked a pregnancy as part of a school project. She details her experience in this memoir, explaining the ways in which people treated her differently once they thought she was going to be a teen mom. She also discusses what it was like when the media found out about her story and doggedly pursued her. This is a thought-provoking, captivating read!
Gaby decides to do her senior project on teenage pregnancy and how the reactions and expectations of peers, teachers, family members, and community members affect the pregnant teen and her vision of her future. The first few chapters seemed a little blah but by the time Gaby did her presentation and revealed her non-pregnant state, I had tears in my eyes. I agree that once a teen is pregnant, her family and community should help her realize that she does not need to give up on her future dreams. It might (will) be more difficult but everything is still possible.
THIS ACCOUNT OF A TEENAGED GIRLS FAKED PREGNANCY FOR HER SCHOOL PROJECT IS SIMPLY ASTOUNDING
