Especially for those who thought that the Vietnam War started in 1965, this is a must-read. Even though I was of that era and reasonably informed, I had only a vague idea what had happened before and just how deeply the U.S. had been involved since WWII. There are lesson there for us today.

Outstanding read and a fair history. The lessons were there regarding the French involvement in IndoChina but the US didn't listen.

Very readable - a real page turner. I didn't know how much I didn't know about this period...

More engaging than any piece of fiction I've read this year.
