This excellent film takes you on a journey into the lives of a few kids who are driven by their passion to succeed in the dance world, which is very competitive. Really touches your heart.

I enjoy dance documentaries. It highlights the sacrifices that young dancers must make, essentially giving up their childhood to pirouette like a pro. I liked the far-reaching scope of this doc, and for anyone who enjoys dance, FIRST POSITION will be right up your alley.

Very good peak into the world of Youth Ballet competition - a world I had never visited before; glad I did.

It was good, but I felt like I had seen it all before. Most dance documentaries are similar.

If you enjoyed First Position I recommend Every Little Step which follows dancers as they audition for the Broadway revival of a Chorus Line.

I'm not a huge fan of ballet but I truly enjoyed this DVD. I was totally charmed by each of the dancers featured, and awe struck at their amazing talent, dedication and perseverance. I was on my seat rooting for each performer during the section where they were being filmed at the Youth America Grand Prix. This documentary was so engrossing, I watched all the "special features" too!
