Blasphemy.
Peter Jackson crafted lush, dense, authentic, magnificent videos
of each book of the Lord of the Rings trilogy,
true to both the spirit and details of Tolkien’s monumental text.
The Hobbit, prequel to the saga,
became a pointless clownish cartoon under Jackson’s direction.
A hugely disappointing bait-and-switch failure
for fans of the LOTR films.
Rather than wasting your time with this tripe,
listen to The Hobbit audiobook narrated by Rob Inglis.
I will start with the first movie and see whether I like the second any better.
This movie has tenuous connections to the original material and seems more like someone's presentation for a Disneyland ride. Yes, the imagery is wonderful, but the characters are reduced to humourous imaginings of the original Tolkien book. I tried to get into the movie but, having read the original, and seeing soooooo much that was created only for the movie, I kept getting annoyed that the producers used "The Hobbit" as the title. If it had had another quest and different species from Hobbits, I would have enjoyed the whole much more. As it was, I was insulted by the assumption NO ONE had read the original.
I saw it in theaters I enjoyed, yes I've sort of read the book...okay my mom read it to me when I was younger...and I have the book now...but really I loved the movie, I don't care if it wasn't what others wanted it to be....you can't make a movie and except it to be what you want it to be. That's all I have to write sorry if I sound like I'm be rude but I'm just stating my opinion that's all.
