A good Israeli film centering on the manipulative but also mutually dependent relationship between a Shin Bet runner and his Palestinian agent, an insecure teenager. Along the way it provides a convincing depiction of the infighting among three Palestinian factions (the PA, al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, Hamas). The root cause of the Palestinian resistance -- the Israeli occupation of 'the Territories' -- is treated as a given; its quotidian forms of oppression and cruelty are not ignored, but we see them only in passing. That said, it's a worthwhile film with a powerful ending.

A brutal and ugly story, simply told with no gimmicks or fancy effects. The suspense builds slowly and steadily, as does the horror.

The moral dilemmas are obvious. Factions within factions, fighting foes and themselves. Anywhere and everywhere, it's all about politics and power.

Good but sad movie about using children for politics and turning them against every human being.

I suggest watching this with "Omar" (by the director of 'Paradise Now'). The order of watching is up to you, but will make a difference in how you perceive the messages.
