Really Hollywood?! Don't waste your time peeps. Unless you love the "Shakespeare" this is a bad 2 hours of viewing.

I couldn't make it 5 minutes into this movie. Why modernize the play yet keep the same dated dialog?

Yes, very Shakespearian ...done with a modern twist... all star cast. I used closed caption to better understand thee...unfortunately, I'm not a Shakespeare fan. I fast forwarded to the fight scenes and to the end ... I was done.

I really had to push myself to finish watching this; it was quite bad. The language was all wrong: the phraseology was Elizabethan but its expression was low class twenty first century American, which especially ruined the high poetry of the words (well, the parts that have them, near the end of the play). The acting was okay, considering; and the direction was pretty good too, considering.

I can't write a review because after ten excruciating minutes that felt like an hour, I gave up on this worthless piece of trash.

The Shakespeare romantic tragedy told in theater English prose but with actors in modern clothes, weapons, cars and location sets. Interesting but somewhat distracting.

thou doth not like this movie

I am a huge fan of Ethan Hawke and Ed Harris, but this was lousy. The dialogue is all done in Shakespearian, so unless you are an avid reader of Shakespear, you'll have no idea what their talking about (me included in this).

Only 5 minutes in and thou thinkest this is stinky....

The jist of the story was told, but not any great performances in this film. They used the original text, but the rhythm was off in delivery. An ok production.

Imogen: You do seem to know something of me, or what concerns me.
Iachimo: Pray you, since fearing things go ill often hurts more than to be sure they do, for certainties are either past remedies or timely knowing, the remedy then born, to me what you both spur and stop.

Posthumus: O, vengeance, vengeance. Could I find out the woman's part in me...for there's no motion that tends to vice in man, but I affirm it is the woman's part. Be it lying, note it, the woman's; Fattering, hers; Deceiving, hers; Lust and rank thoughts, hers, hers; Revenges, hers.Ambitions, covetings, change of prides, disdain, slanders, mutability. All faults that have a name, hers.

Imogen: I chose an eagle.
Cymbeline: Thou took'st a beggar, wouldst have made my throne a seat of baseness.
Imogen: It is your fault that I have loved Posthumus. You bred him as my playfellow.

Queen: No, be assured you shall not find me, after the slander of most stepmothers, evil-eyed unto you. You are my prisoner, but the jailer shall deliver you the key.

--Why should we pay tribute? If Caesar can hide the sun from us with a blanket or put the moon in his pocket, we will pay him tribute for light. Else, sir, no more tribute.

Cymbeline: Come sir, are you ready for death?
Pisanio: I am merrier to die than you are to live.
Cymbeline: I tell thee, fellow, there are none want eyes to direct them where I am going, but such as wink and will not use them. What an infinite mock is this, that a man should have the best use of eyes to see the way of blindness.
