Adam Gidwitz makes a sparkling debut with a work that children are sure to request again and again. Not content within the confines of their own tale, Hansel and Gretel skip out on their story and jump into eight other classic Grimm fairy tales. But all is not sugarplums and candy houses. Danger lies ahead, and Hansel and Gretel have much to learn about avoiding witches' ovens and making sure "The End" isn't their end.

I liked this CD. It is not appropriate for children. It you like Grimm Tales, you may like this fictional story.

The body count gets pretty high (some people die twice) in this blend of fairytales, but the narrator's asides about making sure small children are out of the room help to break the tension when things get too grim (get it?). If you liked the movie Into the Woods, you'll probably like this (and there's a sequel!).

I started listening to this but stopped because I didn't care for the reader. I like the story, though, so I think I will read it instead.
