Devil's Cub is one of Georgette Heyer's most famous and memorable novels, featuring a dashing and wild young nobleman and the gently bred young lady in whom he finally meets his match...Like father, like son...Dominic Alistair, Marquis of Vidal and fiery son of the notorious Duke of Avon, has established a rakish reputation that rivals his father's, living a life of excess and indulgence. Banished to the Continent after wounding his opponent in a duel, Vidal schemes to abduct the silly aristocrat bent on seducing him into marriage and make her his mistress instead. Sequel to These Old Shades, the son of the Duke of Avon is just as 'bad' as his father but in a different style. One of Georgette Heyer's very best novels with one of the very best-paired romantic couples. Vidal, meet Mary....

Really witty, as expected of Georgette Heyer. This is a sequel to These Old Shades which features the male protagonist's father and mother. I liked it a lot except I didn't really like Vidal. I think he's too violent and people don't really change that quickly. However, as a romance novel, it definitely was fun to read, and fast-paced. Recommended for anyone who likes witty characters and romance.

my first Heyer novel, it is great...the dialogue is wonderful and the ending is well contrived! I'm thrilled that I have so many more to read!

I believe that this is the only "sequel" written by the author. the Duke and Duchess have their story told in These Old Shades.

This book starts very slow, but don't give up! Once it gets going it doesn't stop. At first I wondered what the heroine saw in the hero, but I realized they both have the same sense of snarky humor.
