Thrilling in every way it has to be, but poetry just the same . . . The writing is sumptuous, the language lovely, even when the action itself is dark and violent."—The Huffington Post "This really is the big event you've been waiting for . . . "Post-apocalyptic vampire story" doesn't do justice to Justin Cronin's series. It is that, but so much more - and The City of Mirrors is a satisfying conclusion to the saga. Like its predecessors, it challenges the reader to follow a large cast of characters in multiple time periods. Before you start this one, make sure you're up on what happened in the previous books. If it's been a while since you read The Twelve - it was for me - refreshing your memory with one of the synopses available online is a great way to catch up. You won't want to miss a beat as you follow these characters to their final destinations. Cronin is a literary master, and this third chapter contains some of the most lyrical, beautifully written scenes of the series. A fitting finish to a great achievement in modern fiction. Special shoutout to Scott Brick, who has to be one of the best audiobook narrators out there - his tender yet strong voice and impressive emotional range really bring the drama alive.
