Surviving Skokie examines the circumstances surrounding the attempted late-1970s Neo-Nazi march in Skokie, Illinois and the impact on its large Holocaust survivor population. An intensely personal story of Jack Adler and his son, Eli, the film portrays the human cost of racism and bigotry and the heroism of those who speak out against intolerance in all its forms. Includes interviews and archival footage of the attempted demonstration in Skokie, interspersed with the biography of Skokie resident and Holocaust survivor Jack Adler, ending with Adler's return, accompanied by his son Eli, to Poland and his visit, with a group of students, to the Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial and museum.
