I found this book really absorbing, I finished it in one day!

This was my first encounter with Dr. Michael Newton. He is a brilliant man and a leading voice in his field. I have read many books touching on this subject so it was far from new to me but I picked this book up because I was hoping to learn more than I already did. I was not disappointed. Dr. Newton compiles case studies that highlight all the typical stages of life between lives in a chronological and clear manner and I really appreciated having some of the gaps of my previous knowledge filled in. For anyone who feels their "transition" from this lifetime is nearing, I urge you to read this as it will comfort you to know what happens to you after this, your current lifetime is complete. Death is not to be feared as you will "go home" to be amongst souls you know and love and you will still have work to do but in a much more loving and nurturing environment.

An amazing book. The author, a counseling psychologist, hypnotized a large number of subjects and asked them about life after death. The subjects' relatively consistent answers about soul groupings, soul teachers and activities in the afterlife is fascinating. Newton's approach is from the point of view of a scientist and he often asked subjects to describe soul development as a hierarchy but the subjects' answers aren't always what he was looking for. It's fascinating that the subjects were able to give complex information that was far beyond the framework of Newton's 'scientific' questions.

This book, along with "Past Lives, Dreams and Soul Travel" by Harold Klemp, is one of the most profound work about life after death. Newton uses about 30 cases to explain what happens when and after we die. After reading this book (and its sequel, Destiny of Souls), I came out more knowledgeable about life "beyond", the reason we choose one body instead of another one, the implications of difficult relationships in a family, and how to resolve those "karmic" issues. Well worth reading... for the open-minded person!
