We Are the Gardeners
Book - 2019
Joanna and the kids chronicle the adventures of starting their own family garden. From failed endeavors, obstacles (bunnies that eat everything!), and lessons learned, the Gaines family shares how they grew a happy, successful garden. As it turns out, trying something new isn't always easy, but the hardest work often yields the greatest reward.

Add a CommentWe read this not knowing who the author is, but it checks out that she turns out to be a "lifestyle" guru. The illustrations are charming and the message to keep trying despite setbacks is positive. But the story, as written, felt like one long, cloying humblebrag better suited for a social media post than a children's book. (Plus there is something vaguely patriarchal about the family's dynamic, which grossed us out.)
A cute little book for children.
Explains some of the work, and the fun of gardening.
