I read Eregon a year ago, and decided to try out the audiobook this year.

Big mistake. Hopefully I can erase the narrator's voice permanently from my mind. Every character has been turned into a whiny, annoying boor.

I managed to keep going, despite misgivings, up to where Eregon is on the mountain with Saphira after their first desperate flight. Instead of Eregon being angry and in pain? Yup, whining.

Two words to sum up this terrible narrator? Pretentious and annoying.

This is a great book to read or listen to. Eragon is a fantastic fantasy, I can definitely see that when the author wrote this as a teenager was into Lord of the Rings. This series does a great job standing up on its own though. I recommend reading all four.

A beautifully written book. Great for intermediate readers that
aren't quite ready for Lord of the Rings, but loves books with a medieval type theme.

I am in the midst of the third book on Cd right now and I'm enjoying them very much while I drive. Looking forward to the next one!

I love the voice actor, he's awesome :) Dragons, dwarfs, elves, people, evil shades and razak sounding very evil... I can recognize them all by their voices when they are speaking. I had no preconceived notion what a dragon who speaks with her mind should sound like. Certainly it should be big and deep and why not gravely - she breathes fire after all.

I cannot make comment on whether or not the reader was good for the rest of the book, sadly.

However, what I do know is I thought there was an ogre or other form of ugly goblin beast being portrayed in the beginning somewhere (Which seemed odd).
I realized it was Saphira who was voiced like a big troll. Needless to say, he is simply awful at portraying her (which was a deal breaker since she is a protagonist through the series).

I put it down and have not bothered to finish it. :(

I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed this book. The characters are distinctive and likable and the plot was fun, though I thought it ended sooner than I expected.

I love the readers voice it makes the charactors come alive, but saphiras voice sounds so gravely its not what I thought it would be. The plot of the book is great and keeps you on your toes.
