True Colors is New York Times bestselling author Kristin Hannah's most provocative, compelling, and heart-wrenching story yet. With the luminous writing and unforgettable characters that are her trademarks, she tells the story of three sisters whose once-solid world is broken apart by jealousy, betrayal, and the kind of passion that rarely comes along. The Grey sisters have always been close. After their mother's death, the girls banded together, becoming best friends. Their stern, disapproving father cares less about his children than about his reputation. To Henry Grey, appearances are everything, and years later, he still demands that his daughters reflect his standing in the community. Winona, the oldest, needs her father's approval most of all. An overweight bookworm who never felt at home on the sprawling horse ranch that has been in her family for three generations, she knows that she doesn't have the qualities her father values. But as the best lawyer in town, she's determined to someday find a way to prove her worth to him.Aurora, the middle sister, is the family peacemaker. She brokers every dispute and tries to keep them all happy, even as she hides her own secret pain.Vivi Ann is the undisputed star of the family. A stunningly beautiful dreamer with a heart as big as the ocean in front of her house, she is adored by all who know her. Everything comes easily for Vivi Ann, until a stranger comes to town. . . .In a matter of moments, everything will change. The Grey sisters will be pitted against one another in ways that none could have imagined. Loyalties will be tested and secrets revealed, and a terrible, shocking crime will shatter both their family and their beloved town. With breathtaking pace and penetrating emotional insight, True Colors is an unforgettable novel about sisters, rivalry, forgiveness, redemption—-and ultimately, what it means to be a family.

Did not finish. Reads like a Harliquin.

Started like a Harlequin Romance but I plugged away and it's become one of my favourite stories! Absolutely loved it and could not put it down. Couldn't get enough and finished in 2 days!!!

Another good one from Hannah about the relationship between three sisters, or at least two. The eldest and youngest are the main characters. As a middle child myself I had to lament a bit that the middle sister is pretty much a non-entity in the story. Oh well, at least the moody, angry teen characters are toned down a bit over some of her other novels.

Décevant. Récit préviible. Trop de longueurs, de détails. C'est mon 4e livre de cet auteur, sans doute mon dernier,

I really loved this book- I thought it would be typical, book-clubsy mumbo-jumbo, and technically it was; but it was still fun to read. I usually don't go for generic,forever-and-always, bodice-ripping romances, but Vivi Ann and Dallas's story made me cry.

What a great read! It was recommended by mother and I thought it would be a bore, but it was a truely beautiful story that I would have anyone read who loves a great story.

I read for 8 hours straight! I could not put it down and I look forward to reading another of Hannah's books!

Could Hannah have crammed any more plotlines into this book???? WHAT A SOAP OPERA!!!!
Having said that, could I quit before I finished? No...Sigh...
OK - let me add some comments so you know what I'm talking about.
The basic plot revolves around 3 sisters: Winona, the oldest, who has always felt she is fat and (in her father's eyes) inadequate; Aurora, the middle sister - the peacemaker, unhappy in her marriage; and Vivi Ann, the beautiful younger sister who falls passionately in love with a man undesirable to her family and the small town she lives in.
I had problems in the first third of the story: I did not like any of the main characters: Win was constantly at a self-Pity Party; Aurora was pretty much a non-entity and the Princess Vivi Ann, who could do no wrong until she followed her heart.
But as with any soap opera, the storytelling was obviously good enough that I couldn't leave the story unfinished.
I was happy with how it ended but you know? I still didn't care about many of the characters, even at the very end.
Hannah has written much much better stories - Magic Hour and On Mystic Lake - try one of those before you read this.

Winona, Aurora and Vivi Ann are the Grey sisters, left largely to raise each other after the premature death of their mother in their teen years. Their father is a tough rancher, no emotion in sight, and the girls, especially Winona, long to please him. But Winona’s long time crush, Luke, comes back to town only to fall for Vivi Ann, who is falling for the Indian (Native) ranch hand, Dallas Raintree. Winona keeps her feelings to herself and the rift that grows between her and her youngest sisters takes decades to bridge. When Vivi Ann breaks Luke’s heart, Winona is also cast aside and the temporary happiness between Vivi Ann and Dallas is shattered when he is accused of a serious crime.

This novel was the perfect feminine escape; love men, but stay true to your sisters.
