Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett hunts a mass murderer in Yellowstone in this thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author C.J. Box. Joe Pickett's been hired to investigate one of the most cold-blooded mass killings in Wyoming history. Attorney Clay McCann admitted to slaughtering four campers in a back-country corner of Yellowstone National Park—a "free-fire" zone with no residents or jurisdiction. In this remote fifty-square-mile stretch a man can literally get away with murder. Now McCann's a free man, and Pickett's about to discover his motive—one buried in Yellowstone's rugged terrain, and as dangerous as the man who wants to keep it hidden.

The seventh book in CJ Box's Joe Pickett series, Free Fire is my favorite. As always, Box brings the West's wild beauty to life while reeling off a story that won't let you go once you are hooked. Intrigue and the setting in Yellowstone along with characters that you can believe and believe in are treat. Read the whole series!

Although recently fired, Joe Pickett finds himself investigating a multiple murder incident in Yellowstone Park, at the Wyoming governor's request. As usual, Box's visual descriptions take the reader right into the landscape and atmosphere, and this particular national park which feels so close to the turmoils of the earth's core. The majestic, cavernous Yellowstone Lodge is a labyrinth of secrets as well.

Yellowstone National Park descriptions & info make this worth reading even if you haven't read all the 'Joe Pickett, Wyoming Game Warden' series. The gore does get a bit specific so not for advanced-reader children.

I just love these books. C.J. Box writes with authority and with such interesting content. I listen to the audio books, which to me just adds to the enjoyment of these books.

Free Fire is one of Box's best. Well researched and informative along with a great story line; what more can you ask for in a great novel. More C. J. Box, please!
