Jen Dixon is not your typical Kansas City kindergarten class mom-or mom in general. Jen already has two college-age daughters by two different (probably) musicians, and it's her second time around the class mom block with five-year-old Max, this time with a husband and father by her side. Though her best friend and PTA President sees her as the "wisest" candidate for the job (or oldest), not all of the other parents agree. From recording parents' response times to her emails about helping in the classroom, to requesting contributions of "special" brownies for curriculum night, not all of Jen's methods win approval from the other moms. Throw in an old flame from Jen's past, a hyper-sensitive "allergy mom," a surprisingly sexy kindergarten teacher, and an impossible-to-please Real Housewife-wannabe, causing problems at every turn, and the job really becomes much more than she signed up for.-- Provided by publisher.

Class Mom is a quick and fun read - I think perhaps even funnier if you're someone with children and can relate to the parental shenanigans. There's not so much a plot, as much as a look at a year in the life of these characters, but it is witty and fast paced. I polished it off over the course of 1 Sunday afternoon, and was glad to have spent that time with these characters. Great lazy summer day read!

If you want to laugh, read 'Class Mom'.

Jen is dragged into being class mom and she goes kicking and screaming all the way with snark and humor. However, her snark and humor are under appreciated by her fellow parents. If you are over 'woke' and completely politically correct, 'Class Mom' is probably not for you. If you still have a funny bone and/or an ounce of humor you'll get a kick out of it.

The story took a bit of a weird turn with one of the parents being her old unrequited heart-throb, but then much of the story read like the diary of her life during that one year as Class Mom.

Having had kids in both public and Catholic schools I can say with some authority that parent politics and gossip puts national politics to shame, and trust me, private schools are far worse than the public schools. 'Class Mom' accurately captures the absurdities, from hovering moms to disengaged teachers to fingers-in-every-pie-mastering-none opinionated principals all wrapped around doing it "for the children." For some volunteers a resounding yes, for many, um NO!, the children are not their main agenda. But hey, volunteer in high school, especially in/near the cafeteria at lunch and you will know what your kid is up to!

I love this book! Quick read while the baby is napping... I wanted more by the end of it!

Fast, funny read! But I tend to like snark!

Evaluating this book among all books I read, 4 Stars is accurate; among Light, fast-reading fiction I would give it 5 Stars. The heroine writes diary-style with loads of sarcasm and dry humor but comes across as a very smart and loving mom and wife. Though her husband is toooo good to be life-like, everyone here in Johnson County will love her references to places here in KCK since the story is set here.
(I have (since posting earlier) tried to find "Stu's Diner" in the KCK area and struck out; I guess this non-resident author did well to navigate our area town-wise but made up local businesses :^[ )

A fun light read. If you have ever volunteered with your child's school you are going to recognize some of these characters.

As a single mother of 4, I found this book very entertaining. If you’re easily offended, skip it, if not, enjoy!

It was okay. I thought the author tried too hard to make the main character cool. It's a fun light read for the beach, but I also think there are better options out there if that's what you're looking for.

Hilarious! If you are a parent of an elementary school student or ever were, you will recognize the parents in this book. I would say skip it if you are easily offended but otherwise you will love this snarky, endearing, funny book!
