Great movie on how to over come and live a beautiful life. True story and was a librarian pick!

I first discovered the series of books at my local library and just fell in love with them. I actually read the sequel first then the original and after that, the children's book about Bob. The story of Bob and James and how they found each other is just wonderful and I was looking foreword to seeing the movie. I have to say that although I really liked it, seeing it unfold on screen didn't have the same magic for me as reading it. I am glad that Bob played himself and the actor who portrayed James did a great job. It's obvious that Bob learned to trust him during the making of the movie and that made it more believable. For those who have read the books, the movie does a good job following the story line of the books, although there were a few characters (the women in particular) that I hadn't remembered reading about in the book, but maybe I've just forgotten. I'm glad that they didn't include any sort of romance between James and one of the women featured, because that would have made it seem like a romance, which it is not. This movie is great for anyone because there is absolutely no swearing at all, but there is a bit of drug use (or implied drug use); however even that is downplayed, but it's important to include it in the movie because that is ultimately the beginning of this story. It has some really humorous moments, but it was slow moving at times. It was really worth it though and there is a great cameo near the end that I wish I had watched twice but the next time I see this movie, I want to watch it again. Really well made movie with beautiful shots of London. But I do recommend the books as well.

If you're an Anglophile /cat lover /you feel bad re. the houseless ,this film may be a sure choice to make. Having once busked on the streets of London I can vouch for it's authenticity (it looks as cold as reality feels-forget' Masterpiece' ! ) Although it looks a little like a 'Disney for grownups', there are plenty of dark moments to temper the good vibes thrown out by the ever wonderful Bob. Not a totally comfortable ride, but worthwhile nontheless and may have you questioning you own attitude toward the houseless. Take it home !

I enjoyed this film that was based upon the book written by James Bowen, about his harsh life that found some warmth through the companion of a street cat that also found or chose him. I thought it was well acted and directed by the main characters, Luke Treadaway (Unbroken: 2014; the Rack Pack: 2016), Ruta Gedmintas (The Borgias: 2011-2012; The Incident: 2015; The Strain: 2014 - 2017), and Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey: 2010 - 2015).
The extras on this DVD, I found to be worth-the-while as it interviewed the cast, and interviewed the author and explained that Bob the cat was played by himself!
A touching film that was filmed in London.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. In this day and age, it's not hard to know someone who lives on the street, or has a life-threatening addiction. The lead in this film has both. He is given a new lease on life from someone who takes a great interest in him. And a cat walks into his life. Based on a real guy, who actually was an addict and lived on the streets of London.
I highly recommend this film.

This movie is good for cat lovers. I love cats and the way people have relationships with them. I have a pet cat called "Lady" and cats are amazing animals.
I am an animal lover.

This is a very nice, humane and true story of love and friendship between a lonely man and a lonely animal. On Youtube James Bowen said this about their friendship: "A lone man and a lone animal find each other and heal each other." And on Youtube I saw the house Bob "bought James". It's a lonely house in a clearing beside a side road. James spent 15 years of his young life as a street musician and a seller of the Big Issue magazine of the poor, and in his books he tells that beside many nice people many other people hurt him with rude remarks, which really hurt him. I think he got weary of the crowd, and he chose a lonely spot for his home, away from the throng and the hurts. James and Bob are by now world famous, but the wounds of the past will never totally heal. I understand his love for this extraordinary, charismatic and wise cat, who finally brought him a positive attention and some material safety. I understand him, because I am a senior with no close friends, except for critters, who are nice and grateful to me for feeding them. Raccoons and some cats come up to me at night as friends, and in daylight I feed pigeons and squirrels, who eat from my hand. Pigeons are to me as lovely grand-children and friends, and they give me much joy. Some passers-by smile and encourage me, while others make rude remarks, which hurt. They can see I love pigeons and still they tell me ugly remarks, calling my pigeons friends "flying rats," "vermin," and me "asshole." This happened just today. I fully understand James Bowen, I love his books and this film, and, sincerely, I understand why he chose that spot, away from the human crowd, for his home in the countryside. Love and friendship is what makes life worth living, many people don't understand this, but for those of us, who can be called "human," James' and Bob's nice and true story is a heart warming, great lesson. In the French broadcast of RadioCanada I had a favorite person, who received the Governor General's Award years ago, and I remember his saying this once: "Only 5 percent of people can be called 'humans' ". James' and Bob's story is very nice, very human.

Very nice and eye opening film about human to human and human to animal relations. The film and all the James-Bob books are a real heart-warming treasure.

This is a sweet movie to watch. the cat Bob is adorable and the prime character is sincere, loving and caring for animals and people in general. Troubled with addiction and rejection by his father and his family. He find our own path of liberation and freedom of Drugs. Good ending too.
