Add a CommentThis is the first book in the Unicorn Rescue Society series. The series follows the fantastical adventures of main characters Elliot and Uchenna as they project mythical characters (not just unicorns by the way). This fast-paced and funny adventure series is recommended for ages 8 years old and up.
A fun magical fantasy adventure about protecting mythical creatures that is full of hijinks!
This is a very fun book with a cute storyline. I loved the illustrations too. The only reason that I would not re-read is it has some crude humor, and is definately not at my age suitibility; the main characters go to an elementary school.
Elliot is afraid of lots of things and likes to spend his time memorizing dangerous facts about animals. He goes to his first day at his new elementary school three weeks into the term, which he is very annoyed at, who goes to school in the middle of the fall semester?
Elliot meets Uchenna, a girl in his class who likes composing songs about anything, and is always up for adventure, even when it comes the their super-creepy social studies teacher, Pressor Fauna.
On Elliot's first day they go on a field trip, which Elliot find even worse then starting in the middle of the semester, with their teacher, Miss Vole, who has a voice like a hyper squirrel, and Professor Fauna, whose office is rumored to be a torture chamber.
I am very prejudiced towards Miss Vole because she locks Elliot and Uchenna in the school bus on a hot day, which is something that you should NEVER DO.
Otherwise this book was a romp around the park, and a very quick read.
