Moomintroll and friends are all of us with our sweet yet annoying strengths, foibles, hopes and dreams. I have discovered moomin as an adult. Yet, through these amazing books, my child and I can experience the combination of powerful metaphor (adult side) and touching fantasy (the kid side) together.

I can't figure out what adults, or even children, see in this series.

BEST book ever for 7-10 year olds, or even older-younger. I have read this book to myself and out loud many, many times to children. Comet in Moominland is also excellent but the other books in this series are not as riveting for children, in my experience. The English translation is a little dated-sounding at times, but otherwise PERFECT.
