Gripping, tense, shocking, terrifying! I felt like I was in the movie experiencing all that he went through, I was so stressed out and glued to the TV! An incredible true story of survival and heroism by many. Great acting and cinematography.

Good little known WWII story. Unfortunately, a bit drawn out and dramatic.

A very intense movie with suspense every minute of the movie. The main actor should have won Best actor Oscar, better performance by far than any normal Oscar winner. Great must see movie!

Absolutely a must see movie very suspenseful from beginning to end. Excellent actors portrayed this story so real that I myself could feel their every emotion and physical pain. As well as being backgrounded by that beautiful northern scenery made this movie truly captivating throughout. A rare truly well done movie!!

Excellent movie. Superb acting. True story of the resistance movement during nazi occupied Finland. Another excellent movie about the resistance in Finland , is “max manus, man of war” - a true portrayal of a resistance hero.

The movie is a about resistance against the harsh but beautiful Scandinavian winter during the second world war. The scenery is amazing.

A true survival-against-all-odds story. And also one of the many stories of the sacrifices and bravery of men and women in "the resistance" during Nazi Germany. Well worth a watch.

An arresting story of courage and endurance set in a majestic but unforgiving landscape. The Germans, alas, are perpetually scowling bad guys from central casting: wicked, wooden and, in the case of Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, botoxed as well. But that is the only false note that detracts from an otherwise well made film.

A fantastic true drama film. An example of real life being much more fascinating than fiction. What an incredible WWII story of a Norwegian soldier's will to survive multiple mishaps and dangers. A tale of a mans heroic stamina and the sacrifices by regular people to help him escape wartime pursuit. Don't miss this movie.

I don't use words like "gripping" and "compelling" too often.

Both words apply to this new version (the first was made in 1957--Oscar-winner, Best Foreign Film; Norway) of the legendary story of Jan Baalsrud, one of a group of Norwegian resistance fighters, commando-trained in Scotland and sent back home to wreak havoc on the Nazi invaders. Instead, the Nazis wreak havoc on THEM.

Baalsrud is the only one to escape capture. And he continues to do so for more than two excruciating months in the Norwegian winter...and therein lies the legendary tale.

It's important to note that, at the very beginning of the movie, we know Baalsrud makes it: there he is, back in Scotland, after his ordeal--and you can see every narrow escape and deprivation in his blank stare and scarred, lined face. Even KNOWING he survives, does not diminish the suspense, as we follow his perilous journey to neutral Sweden.

Stand-Out direction by Harald Zwart (who directed the enormous Jackie Chan hit, The Karate Kid); stand-out performance by Thomas Gullestad, who literally starved himself for the role, and a good one by Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (Tudors) as the obsessive SS officer who will never give up the chase...

One of the best movies I've seen this year.
