I always enjoy her mysteries.

This one was extra special because of how accurately it captured my experience as a child using books to escape the numerous difficulties of growing up in a family where I learned to deal with an alcoholic father and very depressed mother (of six children) who eventually divorced him and filed for welfare back in the days before food stamps where we sometimes ran out of food before we ran out of month. As the oldest, I used books to escape, find encouragement to do well in school, taught myself how to cook and learned how to budget for the food we did have, The stories gave me optimism and showed me that I wasn't the 'only one' who had it tough and made it through anyway.

This book referred to and quoted from so many of the stories that saved me and moved me ...I felt cared for as a person even as I moved through the story that wasn't about me or my experiences...just a fun mystery in many ways...but she understood my experiences coming from back when my mother was always yelling at me for 'escaping into a book!'

Note: I recently finished 10 years as caregiver for my mother in law suffering from dementia. The caregiver support group I attended surprised me by recommending: "Escape into a book!"

This was another wonderful book in the series. The friends try to help a young woman who appears one night in the book store. There were so many mysteries and questions to be answered about her and other newcomers to town. I really enjoyed this story.

What caught my eye in this book about the Secret, Book, and Scone Society fiction loving group were the quotes beginning each chapter. To quote J.R.R. Tolkien, "The greater part of the truth is always hidden..." and so goes the mystery in this book!
