This is the true story of Gary Hart, the former Colorado senator who quickly rose to the top of the pack as the number one contender for the 1987 Democratic presidential primary. Due to his charisma and drive, Hart connects well with the younger constituents, and both himself and his aides see this a clear and present path to victory. But allegations soon emerge of an extramarital affair, and Hart is forced to deal with the impact that these new allegations have not just on his campaign but on every aspect of his reputation and his personal life.

The front runner can sometimes be overtaken by the plenitudes of life.

This film about the campaign win that should have been and why Hart bailed out after the world discovered the affair with a young naive Donna Rice, smitten on a boat ride that would bring down an entire campaign! Firstly, Hugh Jackman rocked that Hart hair- don't disaster throughout this whole film. Sorry, I just had to go there. He also rocked this role. I completely forgot who I was watching! And wow! Was Hart am egotistical asshole or just as naive as Rice in thinking he do both? Donna and be President. But it also begs the question "Does it matter?" Or even better "Should it?" I mean com'mon people we know EVERYBODY SCREWS! Is it or should it concern us whom with? I mean unless they're screwing children or spies what does it have to do with running the White House? If anything it's kind of an hommage to Presidential Candidate's. Don't you think? How many besides Obama Did Not step out both before, during and after a winning campaign. It didn't stop them from doing their duties. Except perhaps Trump, who I am certain has Not been laid since entering office.
