Experience the internet's most talked-about book, now a major motion picture, from Anna Todd, the writer Cosmopolitan called "the biggest literary phenomenon of her generation." Now with new exclusive material! There was the time before Tessa met Hardin, and then there's everything AFTER... Life will never be the same. #Hessa Tessa is a good girl with a sweet, reliable boyfriend back home. She's got direction, ambition, and a mother who's intent on keeping her that way. But she's barely moved into her freshman dorm when she runs into Hardin. With his tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, and tattoos, Hardin is cute and different from what she's used to. But he's also rude—to the point of cruelty, even. For all his attitude, Tessa should hate Hardin. And she does—until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss it ignites within her a passion she's never known before. He'll call her beautiful, then insist he isn't the one for her and disappear again and again. Despite the reckless way he treats her, Tessa is compelled to dig deeper and find the real Hardin beneath all his lies. He pushes her away again and again, yet every time she pushes back, he only pulls her in deeper. Tessa already has the perfect boyfriend. So why is she trying so hard to overcome her own hurt pride and Hardin's prejudice about nice girls like her? Unless...could this be love?

I would describe "After" as confusing, explicit, and problematic. The story comes from Wattpad, an online writing community. It started as a Harry Styles fan-fiction, and I won't even begin to talk about what I think about that whole situation. There are many points in this book where I was just flat out disgusted with how in-detail Anna Todd was with her description of things the characters do to each other. In addition to that, this book was made for younger girls, and one of the characters is extremely toxic and an awful example of a good boyfriend. Anna defends her book saying that "he's not supposed to be a good example of a boyfriend" but something about that doesn't sit right with me. This is a book for younger girls, there's no need for an abusive boyfriend to be so strongly portrayed. Aside from this, I didn't really enjoy Anna's writing style, but that's different for everyone. It wasn't awful, but I really didn't like this book. Overall, 2/5. @peraltiago4ever of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

This book is incredibly difficult to rate. As many reviewers before me have noted, there are so many things that are problematic with this book. The dialogue is whiny and repetitive, the relationship between Hardin and Tessa is borderline abusive, and the twist at the end was not at all original…and yet it kept me up reading late into the night. I can’t really explain it. It cast some sort of weird spell over me. Maybe because the plot is a smutty amalgamation of two of my favorite 90’s flicks, or maybe because the “hot bad boy falling for the good girl” formula is catnip for the avid romance reader. Whatever it is, it kept me turning pages, all 582 of them. I generally read 2-3 books at a time, but all the other books I am currently reading were set aside to finish this one. I have already told myself that I need to finish the ARCs I am currently reading before I even think about reading the next book in this series, but like Tessa and Hardin, I may not be able to resist.

I read this for 7 hours straight! I could not put it down! Love it! Ps - do not watch the movie, it’s horrible! So many scenes cut and lack of character building. The book is 1000% better. I had no knowledge of Anna Todd, the hype of this book or the movie so I went in with no expectations, just a book with a nice looking cover haha! Winner!

Absolutely amazing. The novels are so realistic and unique. The bet is the most exciting plot twist. Highly recommend!

Well this is my first try with this author and although I read almost 600 pages to be disappointed in the last two chapters I notice there are 4 other books after this one soooooooooo looks like I need to read what happens after the shocking reveal. She's got me hooked!

The whole series is amazing and so thrilling and frustrating. A book that I’d gladly read over and over again

A friend recommended this book to me; when I first heard that it was a form of fan fiction for One Direction (Harry Styles), I was not interested. But I gave it a shot, and I am VERY impressed with this book!! Don't be fooled, it has nothing to do with One Direction, and it is such a realistic romance novel! I admit that I could not put the book down- I ordered the rest of the series before I even finished this book.
