A writer/director team trying way too hard to come up with something and it's just contrived nonsense.

Really good movie! At starts of the movie I thought there was something wrong with her dad like maybe he has a pstd or something but ........ Good movie. Lot of good acting of characters. Recommend to check it out.

A low budget sci-fi that takes a long circuitous intro to the struggles of abnormals in a world controlled by normals who perceive those who are different as dangerous. Not a fresh concept (origins of X-men, Marvel Comics, DC comics ... ) with the usual superhero and mutant stuffs, but the film has enough twists to be engaging, thanks to the familial theme. Despite the analogy used in the film (see "Quote",) hard to imagine why the adult abnormal chose not to use his super power in those crisis moments.

Early yet (Feb 2020) but I'm willing to bet this will be one of the top two or three Sci-Fi movies I'll see this year.

As much a mystery/suspense story as pure Sci-Fi, we don't get to put most of the pieces together until about 2/3 of the way through (suits me!) and not totally until the very final scene, in a finale that takes at least 10 minutes to unfold.

Extremely clever concept cleverly written and well-directed by partners Zach Lipofsky (Canadian) and Adam Stein (American). That's high praise, especially as one of the performers was barely 10 when she--Lexy Kolker--went before the cameras here. She'd been on sets since a toddler, but nothing this complex. She's terrific. So is Bruce Dern, as the mysterious ice-cream man on a mission.

To say more would spoil your fun.

Fine acting and interesting story about a future where certain members of the population have special powers, and are feared by the main populace. The lead actor, a girl of 9 or 10 is amazing.

Does what the X-men franchise couldn't with minimum budget and strong storytelling. This is why indie filmmaking is essential

This is one of those thrillers that has you wondering what the heck is going on for the first part of the movie. Once you understand what's happening it kicks into high gear and has you caring for the main character and on the edge of your seat. Amazing acting on the part of Lexy Kolker who plays the 7 year old girl.

Surprised that there is not a single quote in IMDb as of this morning. Here is a good one:

Did your Dad ever tell you the story of the unicorns? Well, in a forest very nearby there was a whole big family of unicorns. Then one night a pack of snarling wolves came into the forest and grabbed the Mommy unicorn and took her away. And the Daddy unicorn who had a weapon right here chose not to use it. He wanted to hide. He wanted to be a peaceful unicorn.
***Spoiler Alert***
Well, the next night the wolves came back and they ate the Daddy unicorn.
-Then what happened?
The baby? She's left alone. Doesn't know what to do. She knows that she's supposed to hide because that's what the Dad did. And so she thought if I do that then I can live peacefully in the forest. But you know what happened? There are no more fucking unicorns.
