A comedy, suspense, thriller, drama all in one movie! The rich exploit the poor and vice versa! The use of stairs and rain as metaphor is masterful!

I had to come to comment, people who are claiming this is a "Hollywood" release have no taste in culture or know what the hell they are talking about. This is FAR from a main stream Hollywood movie. This is a MUST watch for people who don't have tunnel vision and if your brain is bigger than your fist.

Reminds me of "Out of Africa" another Academy Award winner. Boring

Horrible movie. Started out great, and then the people making the movie must have gotten tired and said "Let's just finish this up quickly by killing everyone." Ridiculous.

It shows Hollywood has gone off the deep end.

You either eat the rich, or the rich eat you.

The writer/director tried hard to make a humorous parody between the feeble-minded rich and the conniving poor in S. Korea, but with too many forced twists and plot holes, turning the social drama into a farce. And compare to, for example, Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Parasite is clearly a cut below in the quality of screen play, characters, actions, costumes, set designs, music score, stunts, visual/set designs ... and a good ending. Speaking of ending, the equally farcical coda is little more than the film maker's plan for a sequel, never mind the explanation given by Bong Joon Ho on why he wanted Parasite to end the way it has. Nonetheless, an entertaining dark comedy like other good to excellent movies written and directed by Bong Joon Ho, but not outstanding in my opinion:

Sea Fog (Haemoo 2014) ★★★★
Snowpiercer (2013) ★★★
Mother (Madeo 2009) ★★★
Barking dogs never bite (Flandersui gae 2000) ★★★

WAYYYYY overrated. Only won best pic because there is so much garbage generated by hollywood these days. Clever but certainly not brilliant. I streamed it on YouTube for 5.99 and think I got ripped off.

Almost as bad and disturbing as the joker movie.

A very interesting movie. It had many layers. It is nothing new through. I have seen this idea in movies before. Basically poor people finding ways to take from the rich in the tech age. I just find it hard to believe that the rich people would not at least do background checks on the people they hire. Find it hard to believe that this movie won best picture. It seems like a political correct reason more than anything else.

Lady are you crazy? If they see that video, Mr. Park and his wife will be so shocked! What did those nice people ever do wrong? Why do this to them?
-Stop right there! Or I'll push the 'send' button.
===
Honey, this 'send' button is like a missile launcher.
-What do you mean, honey?
If we threaten to push it. those people can't do anything. It's like a North Korean rocket.
===
She's rich, but still nice.
-Not "rich, but still nice." She's nice because she's rich. Hell, if I had all this money. I'd be nice, too!
===
Rich people are naive. No resentments. No creases on them.
-It all gets ironed out. Money is an iron. Those creases all get smoothed out.
===
My wife has no talent for housework. She's bad at cleaning, and her cooking's awful.
-Still, you love her, right?
Of course. I love her. We'll call it love.

A lot of planning (scheming,) P1 of 2:

Now our Wi-Fi is shut off. What's your plan?
===
I don't think of this as forgery or crime. I'll go this university next year.
-So you've got a plan!
===
To extract a woman like that, we need to prepare well.
-Right, we need a plan.
==
What do we do? This isn't in the plan.
===
Dad was going on about some plan...
===
Dad, today I made a plan. A fundamental plan. I'm going to earn money.
A lot of it. University, a career, marriage.

A lot of planning (scheming,) P2 of 2:

You don't have a plan?
-I just feel comfortable here.
===
What do we do now, what's our plan?
-I've been wondering... What would Min do in this situation?
Min wouldn't be in this situation!
===
So nothing happened. You understand? I've got my own plan.
===
Ki-woo, you know what kind of plan never fails? No plan at all.
-No plan.
You know why? If you make a plan, life never works out that way. Look around us. Did these people think, "Let's all spend the night in a gym?" But look now. Everyone's sleeping on the floor, us included. That's why people shouldn't make plans. With no plan, nothing can go wrong. And if something spins out of control, it doesn't matter. Whether you kill someone or betray your country. None of it fucking matters.
Got it?
