Good performances and foreboding atmosphere are undone by incoherent plotting and a very slow pace. Hope you like snow.

This movie felt really forced. It felt like it was trying to do what Ari Aster did with Hereditary and Midsommar which is to take a devastating tragedy at the beginning and build a horror movie off of it. While I am a huge fan of Ari Aster's work, I did not enjoy this movie. It is directed by the directors who made Goodnight Mommy (a much better film than The Lodge). After I realized that it was directed by the same people I started to notice that The Lodge had a lot of similarities to Goodnight Mommy in terms of its parental themes, which made me like The Lodge less. All in all, this one was a slog to get through and some of the plot twists didn't really land right.

This movie was a total waste of time. This story line has been done before but only better than this film.

Although it had decent performances and some beautiful cinematography, this movie really fell flat for me.

The characters were frustrating and so many did the dumbest possible thing.

This was a decent psychological thriller/horror flick. I'm not sure which genre it fits best in.
