While not exactly a musical, this music-themed film that have elements of music as its subject seems to be a growing addition to this genre where the Brits excel. Films like Little Voice (1998), Fishermen's Friends (2019) are just some examples that I could think of. Let's not forget that they've revolutionized the music pop scene since the 60s and I think that tradition carries it in the celluloid industry. Military Wives is just one of them and we'll see more of this to make us sane and still have a capacity for a civilized world amidst the proliferation of zombies, sci-fi, superheroes.

Yes, it is predictable, yes, it tugs mercilessly at the heartstrings and yes, it's not exactly believable even though it purports to be based on a true story. But this British feel-good movie may be just what is needed in these chaotic and negative times. So, if you need a lift (and don't mind seeing every scene coming a mile away), this is a good choice for an evening's entertainment.
