Enjoyable, but wish that Tracy Ellis Ross had more scenes (she isn't the actual protagonist, as implied by the advertising). Dakota Johnson is good, but when Ross is onscreen the movie is much more alive and interesting.
Enjoyable on a superficial level. It was like looking at a glossy magazine that also played music.
Loved the California coastline scenery.
i enjoyed this better than i expected, which may not have been the case if I'd paid for the streaming debut. of course, people of a certain age can't help thinking of diana ross when they see her daughter, who was perfectly cast. least convincing for me was dakota johnson, but i see that other people liked her best.
worth a watch on a chill night at home, where most of us are for the indefinite future.
TH and I enjoyed this, somewhat. I know that's not a ringing endorsement, however I would suggest watching this because it lacks the blood-n-guts that are so prevalent in today's movie ecosystem. I'm really tired of vampires, zombies and the like; if you agree spend some time with these ladies.
Seems to me, Tracee Ross Ellis has prepared all her life for a role such as this; the aging, once super popular, singer. We certainly thought in some scenes she was channeling her mother, Diana Ross. Dakota Johnson really does shine in this film, even though she lacked good material and a decent story arc.
To end this review; if you just want to turn off your brain and chill for awhile, you may want to check this movie out.
Not a really good movie. I found myself getting bored really quickly and then it turned into the movie playing as background noise while I did other things to past the time.
I will say one positive thing: Dakota Johnson is a real delight to watch on the screen, I look forward to the day when she gets an excellent script that shows her true ability as an actress.
