The Dark and the Wicked

On a secluded farm, a man is bedridden and fighting through his final breaths while his wife slowly succumbs to overwhelming grief. Siblings Louise and Michael return home to help, but it doesn't take long for them to see that something's wrong with mom too. Gradually, they begin to suffer a darkness similar to their mother's, marked by waking nightmares and a growing sense that an evil entity is taking over their family.

Add a CommentWow...This movie was extremely : creepy, disturbing, and very scary. I have seen MANY scary movies over the past 45 years. This was one of the best for me. The only way I made it all the way through was because it was still daylight. I don't think I could have watched it in the dark. Quite impressed.
Dreary and disturbing movie that will get under your skin if you let it. The whole atmosphere is one of dread to the point where I was feeling uneasy as a viewer. Akin to A24 vehicles such as "Hereditary" and "The Witch" (two of my more recent favorite horror films). If you are expecting the run-of-the-mill Hollywood dreck with events unfolding in a formulaic manner then skip this one - you will not like it. However if you can appreciate a slow burn and accept that not every plot point has a clear answer then you will find much to enjoy here. Note the ending seems to divide both proponents and detractors, but I found it to be quite satisfactory. To say any more is to spoil the film, so give this one a chance and watch with an open mind.
All I can say is another El stinko new movie they got three stars on it. I give it minus 3 Stars
