I love to read books about people surviving circumstances beyond their control. I also like character driven novels with good settings. The writing doesn't have to be great. I don't always want to read something because it has literary merit. This book is just a good read, has some really good characters that you can care about but some of the storylines are hard to believe especially when backed by science; Coyote attacks on people are very rare. ... Less often, people are bitten by cornered coyotes, or even more rarely, rabid coyotes. There have only been two recorded incidences in the United States and Canada of humans being killed by coyotes. Also Vultures do not attack humans or wait around if they detect you are on your way out. They are harmless birds that have a bad rep and this book doesn't help with that. So it may not win any awards but I recommend it.
