A fictionalized account of the events during the week of Princess Diana's sudden death, effectively presented from the points of view of Queen Elizabeth II and then-Prime Minister Tony Blair. Helen Mirren gives a superb performance as the stoic Queen, who grows ever more perturbed and confused at how the death of this troublesome young woman can possibly be causing so much distress to the British people. Michael Sheen is equally outstanding as Tony Blair, with his finger squarely on the pulse of what is happening in the moment. He sees the country's unashamed outpouring of grief over the loss of their beloved People's Princess, and desperately urges the baffled and frustrated Queen to make some kind of public response acknowledging the rapidly erupting national despair, before it becomes a public relations disaster from which the royals might never recover. Well done.
