Both my spouse and I were extremely disappointed in this sequel, Part II of Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. After watching Part I (I didn't know there would be 3 parts to this movie!) we both agreed the movie was well done, had very skilled actors, the casting was well done, and the entire movie was interesting, addictive, and very nicely paced...when we reached "The End" and found there was another movie, Part 2, we couldn't wait to view it! What a disappointment! Not so much in the story itself, however, in how it was translated into a movie, the actors chosen to replace all the original cast, their acting ability, (with the exception of 2 we both found noteworthy: Esai Morales as Francisco d'Anconia and Jason Beghe as Henry Reardon. As good as both actors are, they can't carry the entire cast...so this sequel begins with a fast paced airplane chase scene (the new Dagny Taggert). After this brief scene the movie fizzles out. There is a slightly increased pace in the last portion of the movie which closes with the same scene we viewed in the opening. All in all, this sequel was a disappointment. I look forward to reading the book by Ayn Rand, a brilliant woman, prolific author and visionary... this book was published in 1957. Part 3 of the movie is planned for release in 2014. I wonder if part 3 will have the same impact as Part 1 had on me...I'll just have to wait and see, but by then, I'm sure it will have lost momentum for me!
